What's happening?
- 10 May 2024: The Mary Basin water plan review and replacement process has been finalised with the release of the Water Plan (Mary Basin) 2024, Mary Basin water entitlement notice 2024 (PDF, 3.9MB) and Mary Basin water management protocol 2024 (PDF, 1.1MB). The process has incorporated more than 2 years of community consultation and new scientific assessments to ensure local environmental, cultural, agricultural, recreational and urban water needs are met into the future.
- 30 November 2023: Due date for meter revalidations for the Cooloola Sandmass subartesian area (now called the Cooloola Sandmass underground water management area).
- 22 February – 26 May 2023: The public consultation on the draft Mary Basin water plan, management protocol and water entitlement notice has now closed.
- 28 May 2021: A notice was gazetted to postpone the expiry date of the water plan to 28 May 2024. Postponing the expiry of the water plan will allow the department to complete technical assessments and undertake adequate consultation to address current and emerging issues as part of the replacement process.
- 27 May 2021: The preliminary public consultation notice (PDF, 15KB) for the proposed replacement of the Mary Basin water plan is now available. The notice explains the reasons for replacing the plan and consultation arrangements. The Minister's report provides further information in regard to the reasons for replacing the plan. Submissions on the notice closed on 30 July 2021.
