Critical Minerals Queensland
Critical Minerals Queensland (CMQ) is a dedicated office that facilitates progress and unlocks potential to accelerate the critical minerals industry in Queensland. Based in Townsville, it is a central point for industry, investors and the community to engage with the Queensland Government about critical minerals.
The Queensland critical minerals strategy was released on 27 June 2023. The strategy sets out industry-enabling actions that CMQ will lead, including:
- establishing place-based critical minerals zones
- partnering with industry to build ESG excellence
- exploring remaining mineralisation in mine waste
- reducing rents for mineral exploration permits to $0 for 5 years.
